Some diners mention the limited seating available inside, which can become crowded during peak hours, particularly on busy weekends. The absence of table service might not suit everyone; some customers prefer being waited on rather than ordering at the counter. A few reviews also suggest that during peak times, the wait for food can be longer than desired, although the quality still seems to warrant it. Additionally, those looking for more eclectic menus may find Skate Fish & Chips offerings a bit traditional, focusing heavily on classic British fare rather than experimental dishes.
Definitely my favourite chip shop. We recently moved home and have tried a couple of shops nearby but now prefer to drive out a bit to go here. Foods always lovely, portions size is good. The staff our very nice, which I believe is a family business.
Recommended to us and can only say what a great recommendation. I had large cod, huge portion, crispy light batter with a half portion of chips which again was a huge portion. My son had kebab and chips, he's always hungry (growing) and even he couldn't finish his chips! We went on a Friday evening and the queue was out the door! Little restaurant area to sit but no table service. Outside seating ideal for warmer weather! Reasonable prices compared to lots of others. We'll definitely be returning!
This is my go to chippy. Large portions, reasonable prices. Never dissapointed me once.
Excellent fish &Chips. Highly recommended!!
One of best fish & chip shops around at the moment and big portions
Best fish and chips in the world!!! I've been going here all my life and I've never found a better chip shop. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious
The first time we have visited this fish & chip shop for many years. We are both huge foodies and rarely review places, however, if you are local to Oakdale or Parkstone do not go anywhere else for fish & chips. We ordered large chips, large haddock, 2 battered sausages, mushy peas and curry sauce. Every single item was perfectly cooked, crispy batter, beautifully tasting curry sauce and mushy peas and nothing was greasy. Ignore any minority bad reviews as they don’t know what they’re talking about..! Great value as well, thank you. Stuart and Carly.
